The Storyline of Emergency
Emergency is a Historical type movie. Let me explain the storyline of this movie just in a few lines.
Indira was the daughter of a very famous man, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru, who was India’s first Prime Minister. But guess what? When Indira decided to join politics, her dad wasn’t too happy about it. He didn’t really want her to get into all the political drama.
But Indira was determined. People started noticing her, especially when she bravely went to Assam during a war between India and China. The war scared many people, and they wanted to leave their homes. But Indira told them, “Don’t run away! This is your land!” That made her very popular.
After her father passed away, people saw her as the perfect person to lead the country. And just like that, she became India’s first and only female Prime Minister! Pretty cool, right?
As Prime Minister, she had many big challenges. One of the biggest was in 1971 when a new country, Bangladesh, was formed. She played a huge role in that! But not everyone in her party agreed with her decisions.
Now, Indira had a younger son named Sanjay Gandhi. He wasn’t exactly the best kid—people said he was a bit of a troublemaker. But Indira still trusted him a lot because he understood politics like she did.
When Sanjay got involved, many older and respected leaders in her party got upset and left. People even started saying, “Indira should step down!” It was a tough time for her.
But then, she did something very bold—and very controversial. She announced something called an Emergency, which meant she had total control over the country. Some people thought it was necessary, but many were really angry about it.
And that, my friend, is how Indira Gandhi’s journey in politics took many twists and turns.
